 Job Description

  • Medical Reception
  • Proficiency in medical software & data management
  • Scheduling & coordinating patient appointment for consultation & endoscopy procedures
  • Creating & managing electronic medical records (EMR)
  • Scanning & filing documents
  • Performing tasks originating from the triage of referrals
  • Assisting with the preparation of documents for clinics & endoscopy procedures
  • Responding to telephone, email and in-person inquiries from patients, physicians & physician’s offices
  • Ensuring patient privacy & confidentiality
  • Liaising with patients
  • Liaising with physicians & nursing staff
  • Supporting administrative supervisor as required
  • Supporting clinic manager when required
  • Perform other related office administrative duties as required

Required Education

  • Office or Medical Administration Certificate/Diploma

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Prior experience with EMR
  • Knowledge of general office procedures
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word & Power Point

Starting salary: $20/hour with room for growth. This position comes with compensation in lieu of benefits & additional compensation for weekend shifts.

The successful candidate will receive 4-6 weeks of specialized & intense paid training to prepare them for their role. Because of this intense & specialized training we would ask that the successful candidate commit to their position for at least 1 year.

This is a specialized role, which requires hands-on learning. Our successful candidate will participate in a 4-6 week training program to prepare them for all their roles in our clinic. Our RPN’s are the most versatile members of our team. Each role will allow the RPN to utilize their technical skills & abilities as well as expand their knowledge of diseases related to the digestive system & their treatments/interventions.

 

Job Description

  • Admission of patients for examinations & endoscopic procedures (data entry, obtain vitals, medical history, initiate IV access)
  • Assist physicians with examinations & consultations in our GI, Internal Medicine & Surgical clinics (medical history, vital signs, pre-op teaching)
  • Assist physician intra-operatively with endoscopic procedures (documentation, using tools to obtain specimen & handle samples, etc).
  • Assist post-operatively in the recovery room with post-procedure patient care (record & monitor vital signs, patient post-op teaching
  • Safely handle specimen samples
  • Detailed data entry & documentation in the electronic medical record & paper charts
  • Precise cleaning & disinfecting of all work areas
  • Other duties as assigned

Endoscopy Training Program:

At OGI, we offer an extensive and hands-on endoscopy training program that sets us apart from the rest. While traditionally, the role of endoscopy nurse is fulfilled by Registered Nurses in hospital settings, OGI has chosen to apply the full scope of Registered Practical Nurses for this critical role.

For 4 weeks you will be paired with experienced nurses who will guide your learning in each of our 5 roles, ultimately setting you up for success to be able to work independently & as part of our team. You will be given learning objectives & asked to review information prior to stepping into the endoscopy suites.

This is a specialized role allowing our RN’s to manage post-operative recovery care & the opportunity to provide bedside conscious sedation intra-operatively. Additionally, our RN’s assist with the pre-operative process by obtaining medical history, entering data into our EMR system & initiating IV and recording baseline vital signs.  Each role will allow the RN to utilize their technical skills & abilities as well as expand their knowledge of diseases related to the digestive system & their treatments/interventions.

  • Assist physician intra-operatively with endoscopic procedures by administering IV conscious sedation (recording & monitoring vitals & meds given)
  • Responsible for post-operative assessments & patient care (record & monitor vital signs, patient post-op teaching)

  • Precise cleaning & disinfecting of all work areas
  • Maintenance of crash cart medications & supplies

Job Description

  • Cleaning & reprocessing of a variety of endoscopes & accessories
  • Operation of reprocessing equipment, utilizing proper operation procedures in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommended guidelines for use, including loading & unloading techniques
  • Monitoring of reprocessing units to ensure they are performing at optimal levels
  • Performance of routine checks on reprocessing equipment & high level disinfecting agents; interprets & records results & reports problems to team lead or manager
  • Oversees the care, handling & maintenance of endoscopic equipment
  • Inspects endoscopes & equipment for damage & report to team Lead or manager
  • Troubleshoots basic technical problems with endoscopes & equipment & prepares equipment for servicing as required
  • Documents & tracks endoscope repairs and communicate to team lead or manager
  • Maintenance & stocking of equipment, instruments & supplies. Stores equipment, instruments & supplies to maintain the SPD department in a neat & orderly fashion
  • Notifies team lead or manager of low supplies
  • Precise cleaning & disinfection of SPD department
  • Complies with all established departmental policies & procedures, including health & safety regulations & requirements
