Rapid Access System
OGI launched the Rapid Access System in 2023, the first in the province to introduce an initiative that streamlines urgent patient care, guaranteeing these patients be seen urgently based on a referral that meets a specific set of criteria.
This system is designed for patients who:
- Have abnormal FIT/FOBT results
- Are significantly overdue for their procedures
- Are very symptomatic & there is a high suspicion of disease

Patient Exclusions
Please note that as an out-of-hospital premises, OGI cannot see patients with the following medical issues:
- Pacemaker/Defibrillator
- CHF with EF<40%
- On supplemental O2 or with FEV1<50%
- personal or family history of Malignant Hyperthermia
- Cirrhosis
- BMI >50 kg/m2
- MI in the last 6 months
- Poorly controlled Diabetes
- Poorly controlled Hypertension
- Age>85
- Patients requiring a lift or unable to transfer to bed without assistance
- Failure to maintain platelet count >50,000
